Lab number six.

switching high voltage using a ssr relay.

components:

1) SSR. Jameco #175214 Any solid state relay with input of 3-24VDC and output of at least 120VAC.

notes:

1) Solid State relay is turned on with 3-24 VDC at the input. Click here for an example using a transistor circuit.
2) Output side needs a load to turn on.
3) Typical color code for AC wiring is black for hot, black or green for neutral and white for ground.
4) For ungrounded wires (2 prong) connect the two wires as "neutral" and "hot"
4) NEVER leave exposed wires on the AC side. AC wall current is dangerous and can kill you.
5) NEVER work on circuit while it's plugged in unless you're going for the Darwin Award.
