Hall Effect sensor

1) Measures strength of magnetic induction.

2) Analog Hall effect sensors output a voltage proportional to applied magnetic field.

3) Digital Hall effect sensors are used in magnetically controlled switches - they turn on and off when magnetic field reaches a certain level.

4) Because they have no moving parts, Hall effect switches are useful in rough conditions - dirt, grease, high or low temperatures. Because they don't need physical contact to activate they can be used in highly repetitive situations, and don't require debouncing.

5) The Hall effect can also be used to measure the current flowing through a conductor by the strength of the magnetic filed created. This is useful for measuring current in live, high voltage wires without interrupting the circuit.
