DC Motor speed control
1) Typical rotational speed between 3000 and 8000 rpm at specified voltage
2) Speed is roughly proportional to voltage.
3) A motor operating a below ideal speed/voltage provides less torque
4) A gearhead motor has a reduced speed and increased torque.
5) Wrong way to reduce speed - potentiometer. Energy lost as heat.
6) Right way to reduce speed - Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). No extra energy
lost.
