1) I’d like to outfit a good sized bush with a selection of small
motorized mirror balls. This bush will be in view, but not actually located
within the main exhibition area.
2) The viewer will see flashing reflected light in the distance, emulating
a survival technique used for signaling help when lost. By following these
reflecting signals, the viewer will discover the bush. The bush will experience
a temporary break from it’s lonely existence.
3) The bush will be outfitted with biological movement sensors. Anyone coming
within range of the bush will trigger a sound recording of romantic dance
music. The party will begin, and the motors will start spinning willy-nilly.
4) As the viewer leaves, the motors stop spinning, the music fades and halts,
and it’s back to solitary life for the bush.
Notes
Power will be supplied by solar panel with battery backup, allowing piece
to function continuously for duration of exhibit. Implementation will be
non-invasive and will have no lasting effects on the bush.
